You can use Bing to search the web and add results right to an email message you're writing without ever leaving your message in Windows Live Hotmail. Then add the search results to your message.

To add Bing results to an email message

1. In the Insert bar at the top of a message, click From Bing.
2. In the drop-down list, click the type of content you'd like to insert. The Quick Add pane will appear to the right of your email message.
3. Type what you want to find in the search box. You can use keywords or specific names—such as restaurants or cities—to find what you're looking for.
4. Browse the options in your search results, then click Insert to automatically add the information to your message.

Hotmail users can now get alerts on their Mobile device as and when they receive Email in their Inbox. With this service Hotmail users will be able to receive, read and reply to Emails via SMS only. You can receive the hotmail alerts as text massages (SMS) in just three simple steps and you don’t even need a GPRS connection!

1. Login into http://mobile.live.com using Hotmail user name and password.
2. Enter your mobile number and Hotmail will send a verification code in a text message.
3. Enter the verification code received on mobile and you are all set to receive hotmail alerts on your mobile phone as SMS

Enabling Hotmail from Gmail

First go into your Gmail account and select Settings then click on the Accounts tab, now click on "Add a mail account you own".

In the next screen enter in the Hotmail or Live address into the Address field then click on Next Step.

In the next section we need to enter in the proper settings so the connections work.  Enter in your username and password for your Windows Live account.  Make sure the following settings are correct.

POP Server: pop3.live.com

Port: 995

Check Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail

You can also select leaving a copy on the server and archive incoming messages, these settings are per your preference and will not affect the connection.  When everything looks correct click on Add Account.

Note: If you want to leave your messages in your Hotmail account, make sure to select the option for "Leave a copy of retrieved messages on the server".

Next check "Yes, I want to be able to send mail as…" This will allow you to send email as your Hotmail or Live account then click Next Step.

Now you can verify or edit the name on the email or if you'd like replies to be delivered to another account enter in a different Reply-to address.

 

Finally Gmail will send a verification to your Hotmail or Live account.

Once you get the verification code enter it and click the Verify button and your done!  

To send an email using your Hotmail account, just use the "From" drop-down when composing a new message.

Now you can Send and Receive your Hotmail in your Gmail Account!

Let's look at how we can connect Hotmail and Live Email accounts with Outlook 2010.

Step 1. Install Microsoft Outlook Hotmail Connector

Before you start to add your Hotmail account to Outlook you need to install Microsoft Outlook Hotmail Connector. Close the Outlook 2010 firstly, and then continue to install it.

Step 2. Go to File in Outlook 2010

Now you need to go to File > Add account in Outlook 2010.

There are two steps to add the accelerator to IE 8. First, click on Add to Internet Explorerand then confirm the installation when the secondary window appears.

To work around the URL problem you could quickly add the webpage’s link before sending the e-mail out.

Popular solutions

You probably use Gmail for sending and receiving emails, but it won’t let you send email messages that are larger than 25 MB. The new Windows Live Hotmail service is a much better alternative as it lets you send email messages as large as 10 GB (yes, that’s a per message limit).


The maximum size of an individual file that you can attach to a message in Hotmail is 50 MB. If the file you want to send is larger, you can use a file-splitting utility like HJSplit that can break it into smaller chunks — the recipient can join these chunks to get the original file. He can do this without external programs.


Dropbox is another excellent service for sharing large files over the Internet. If you have installed the Dropbox utility on your desktop, you can upload files of any size to the Internet (limited by the size of your Dropbox storage, which is 2 GB in the case of free accounts). You can upload files straight to the Dropbox website from your browser but the limit is 300 MB per file.

Q: Somebody took over my Web-mail account and locked me out. How do I get back in?

A: I've heard this story from two different people in the past six weeks, one a longtime Hotmail user and the other a more recent convert to Gmail. Both had set up their accounts so long ago that they had not set up or had forgotten the usual account-rescue options -- sending a password-reset link to an alternate e-mail address or answering a designated "secret" question.
The top-three Web-mail services offer different fixes for this unpleasant scenario.

At Hotmail, a form available at http://windowslivehelp.com/passwordreset.aspx will ask for such authenticating information as your Internet provider, the date of your last successful login and the names of contacts.

At Yahoo, a password-reset form (http://edit.yahoo.com/forgot) will request your birthday, country and Zip or postal code, followed by your secret question.

And at Gmail, clicking the "Can't access your account?" linkon the Gmail login page and choosing "I think someone else is using my account" on the next page will lead to a form in which you can provide such supporting details as the month and year in which you created the account.

But if you choose a strong password -- one not shared with other accounts -- keep your computer free of viruses and don't fall prey to phishing scams, you shouldn't need to go through these workarounds.

It also helps to verify that your service has a current alternate e-mail address saved and if you opt for a backup option available at Google and Yahoo: storing your mobile-phone number to allow a password reset via text messages.
